I am a mom of 4 wonderful children and 9 grandchildren with possibly more in my future. I have been caring for children in some capacity or another over 45 years. I am a child of God and have been for over 40 years. I have taught children’s church, children’s Sunday School at various grade levels, served as a camp counselor for children’s church camp, served in the AWANA program at all levels except game director, and held women’s Bible study groups in my home.
Over the years I have lived on both coasts and currently reside in the Midwest. I have flown a couple of times, but quickly discovered it really wasn’t for me. My preferred way to travel is by car. Then I can stop and “smell the roses’ whenever I want.
When I was a teenager, my mom introduced me to my other love…crochet. I come from a very “crafty” family. As far back as I can remember my aunts and my mom would get together and work on whatever type of craft was popular at that time. As a result, our refrigerator was covered in felt and sequin farm animals, we had bowls of wax fruit also covered in sequins, my mom (as previously implied) was an avid crocheter, but she also had a sewing machine and made most of our clothes when we were little and (for me anyway) well into my high school years. This craftiness extended to my siblings and myself as well. Two of my brothers made matching cut glass lamps for our mom. My sister(s) sewed clothes, embroidered, macramé, and cross-stitch. I have nieces and nephews that mom also taught to crochet. So, it is no wonder that this also extends to my children. During her teen years my daughter would often cut up her clothes to “restyle” them into a new outfit (something I never thought to do). With all this craftability you would think drawing would be no big deal, however, I frequently remind my younger 2 kids, that there drawing ability came straight from their dad. I can draw a cube, a tree, and a wonky looking stick figure.
Through these pages I plan to share with you some of my creations, favorite recipes and stories of my adventures traveling around this great land of ours, along with the lessons God has taught me along the way. Come with me as we walk this new road together.
